The City of Louisville's Youth Advisory Board is looking for PAWlitical candidates to run for the 2023 Pet Mayor Election. The furry candidates can place their bid on a political career in Colorado through March 31.

Qualifications of the First Pet Mayor of Louisville, Colorado

According to the City of Louisville, the purrfect candidate must be a resident of Louisville, Colorado, and have these qualities:

  • Good temperament
  • An upstanding and respectable pet
  • Agree to have their photo taken by the City of Louisville

Why is Louisville, Colorado Looking for a Pet Mayor?

Pets are an important part of Louisville, and after all the changes that 2022 brought to our community, we thought it would be fun to elect a furry friend as a pawsitive role model for our city!

Said Sam Becker, board chair, in the release via the City of Louisville. Adding:

We chose this project because we feel that this election embraces City values, and it is a great opportunity to bring our community together.

Submissions for the first pet mayor of Louisville, Colorado will be taken through March 31, 2023. Voting for pet mayor will happen April 4-18, and the winners will be announced on May 5, 2023.  The official inauguration for Pet Mayor and Pet Mayor Pro Tem will take place at Louisville's annual Pet Parade in September.
