Yep, you can own a kangaroo according to Colorado Parks and Wildlife. Colorado Parks and Wildlife technically does not say whether or not you can keep the marsupial as a pet, but you can own one.

The animal, which is native to Australia and New Guinea isn't probably the best idea for a pet, however. According to Pet Keen, kangaroos have been known to be aggressive and pack quite the kick with nearly 3,000 pounds of force. Kangaroos are also social animals and need a social life to be happy and healthy.

Imagine all the space you would need to have a healthy kangaroo. It's a lot. You can't simply have a kangaroo in your one-bedroom apartment. Sure, the thought is nice, but that would be downright cruel to the kangaroo.

  • Swamp wallaby
  • Wallaroos
  • Short-tailed possum
  • Camel
