5 Places to Take Those Relatives You Have Visiting Montrose
Believe it or not, mid-January is when a lot of us are finally able to get those relatives that flew in for the holidays out of our houses. I know that may seem like a long time, but if you've tried to book a flight in the last year or so, you know that's usually the more preferable option available.
With relatives on my mind, I got to thinking about where to take relatives when they come to visit. There always comes a point, during any visit, where there's not enough air left in your house, and you've got to get out before you yell at Grandma for chewing too loud. Here are some of my personal favorite spots that are, generally speaking, plenty of fun for the whole family.
The Rose Bowl Entertainment Center
Who doesn't like bowling? The Rose Bowl is a staple here in Montrose, so if you're someone from out of town taking up space on your couch, why not get out and bowl a few frames? Plus, there's axe-throwing, which is a great stress reliever after another round of, "Why aren't you married?" with your mother. Just don't let anybody know that's what made you mad, or they may have some follow-up questions.
The Coffee Trader
I don't know about you, but the first thing I do in any new town is located the nearest coffee shop to my immediate location. No, I don't think that's indicative of a problem. Why do you ask?
The Coffee Trader on Main Street is one of my personal favorites. Not only are they local, but the Coffee Trader makes delicious coffee drinks. Plus, they're basically around the corner from the radio station. Score!
Horsefly Brewing Company
Right across the street from the Coffee Trader, the Horsefly is the perfect place to go when you want to get away from those kids for a minute or two. Then again, kids aren't not welcome, but if you're anything like me, you definitely don't want them around when you're heading to a brewery. Just make sure you've got a designated driver, and don't overdo it.
The Fox Theatre
Movies would be the second thing I look for in any new town, and the Fox Theatre downtown is quite the movie theater for our town to claim. Plenty of screens allow Fox to keep you up to date on the latest blockbusters, as well as classics and some films you may not have heard of.
Montrose Botanic Gardens
If you need a little peace and quiet, while at the same time needing the feeling of accomplishment, you could do worse than the Montrose Botanic Gardens. Nature lovers will be in heaven, and the rest of us can get lost in all the pretty greenery. This one is definitely great for the entire family.
