Can you believe that Colorado is the number one state in the nation for car thefts? It seems rather unbelievable, but it is true. Thousands of vehicles are stolen every month in the state of Colorado, with both Denver and Aurora leading the way.

According to KDVR, data from July to September shows that 2,845 vehicles were stolen in the Denver metro area in just three short months.

Year-to-date numbers are up for auto thefts in the city of Aurora by more than 27 percent compared to this time last year. A total of 5,322 vehicles have been stolen in the city of Aurora since January 1, 2022.

Which Vehicles Are Stolen the Most in the Denver Metro Area?

KDVR compiled a list of the 10 most stolen vehicles throughout the Denver metro area. These cars are the most commonly stolen:

Kia Soul - 148 thefts
GMC Sierra - 150 thefts
Ford F-250 - 163 thefts
Kia Sorrento - 199 thefts
Hyundai Elantra - 274 thefts
Kia Optima - 332 thefts
Chevrolet Silverado - 355 thefts
Hyundai Sonata - 368 thefts
Hyundai Tuscon - 389 thefts
Kia Sportage - 467 thefts

It appears that Kias and Hyundais are the most commonly stolen vehicle in the Denver metro area. The specific years for these models of vehicles were not given.
