One legend that makes Monarch Pass especially ominous involves a historic yellow house. This particular house is located on the very edge of the house and is said to be over 120 years old.

Legend has it that a man sits in the window and that passersby are encouraged to honk and wave at the man in the yellow house. In fact, motorists have claimed that the rare times that they didn't do this, they almost slid off the road and nearly met a terrifying demise.
