I think we can all agree October makes it “safe” to mark Halloween.

Whether you’ve set up your grave front yard scene yet or not, you better be well on your way to pulling together a great costume. Certainly, the kids have been planning their princess dresses, superhero getups or scary transformations.

They ought to because Northern Colorado trick-or-treating abounds, with the first event coming to Loveland on Oct. 12.

Where to trick or treat in Northern Colorado

Here’s where to track down all those tricks, treats and Halloween trick-or-treating events in Northern Colorado.

Loveland Trunk or Treat

The treat: Come in costume and bring a bag to make your rounds, thanks to Alternatives to Violence, the Loveland Police Department, and participating businesses. EMS, fire and police department vehicles will also be there for kids to explore.

When: 10 a.m.-noon Oct. 12

Where: Loveland Police Department, 810 E. 10th St., Loveland.

Greeley Trunk or Treat

The treat: Vote for the best class pumpkin, participate in a friendly costume contest and best trunk contest and be one of the first 50 trick-or-treaters to receive a special goodie bag from The Learning Experience.

When: 10 a.m. to noon Oct. 19

Where: The Learning Experience parking lot, 4801 25th St., Greeley.

 

Holiday Twin Drive-In Trunk or Treat

The treat: Food trucks, games, trunk decorating contest, costume competition, raffles and a bonus family-friendly movie to cap the day at 7 p.m.

The trick: Organizers Fort Collins Best After School and Summer Camp and the Holiday Twin Drive-In are asking attendees to register

When: 2-5 p.m. Oct. 19

Where: Holiday Twin Drive-In, 2206 South Overland Trail, Fort Collins.

 

Johnstown Trunk or Treat

The treat: Decorated trunks aplenty and a costume parade.

When: 3:30 p.m. Oct. 19

Where: Johnstown Plaza, 4870 Thompson Parkway, Johnstown, Colorado, north of At Home and west of Urban Egg.

 

Downtown Greeley Trick or Treat Street

The treat: Downtown turns scary at after turn with props, photo ops and crafts. Downtown businesses bring the treats for trick-or-treating.

When: 4-6 p.m. Oct. 25

Where: Throughout downtown

 

Longmont Halloween Parade and Trick or Treat Street

The treat: A come-one-come-all community parade followed by trick or treating at businesses along Main Street.

The trick: Paraders of all ages should line up at 9:45 am at Roosevelt Park, 700 Longs Peak Ave.

When: 10 a.m. to noon Oct. 26

Downtown Johnstown Trick or Treat Street

The treat: Trick or treating in historic Johnstown

Windsor Halloween Carnival

The treat: Trick-or-treating, inflatables, photo opportunities, live music and food trucks. Plus, a Zombie Dash Fun Run at 11:30 a.m. and Howl-o-ween Yappy Hour.

The trick: Trick-or-treating starts at 1 p.m., with stops around the Windsor History Museum lawn. Expect 5,000 people.

When: 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 26

Where: Boardwalk Park, 100 N. Fifth St., Windsor.

Halloween Hullabaloo

The treat: A street festival along Fall River Drive with pumpkin bowling and other games, face painting, a graveyard maze, a bounce house, wacky trikes, a selfie station, a haunted house and more.

The trick: Want to enter the costume contest? Register before 3 p.m. at the Centerra Booth. Then check out the contest from 3 to 4 p.m.

When: noon to 4 p.m. Oct. 26
