What Are These Giant “Muffler Men” That Colorado Only Has 2 Of?
It can be unnerving to be driving along in Colorado and see a giant colorful statue of a man on the side of the road. These two guys are old, but they still have style.
There are many roadside attractions in Colorado, and these two guys should definitely be on your list. The best part is that both of them are north of I-70, making it pretty easy to check them both out in an afternoon.
I had driven by the big Paul Bunyan-looking fiberglass statue in Greeley more than a few times while having grown up in Colorado, but I had not heard of a second "giant man" being just west of Longmont, until the summer of 2022. I thought that I might not be alone in not knowing, so I went on my own little road trip.

These 25 foot-tall statues date back over 50 years to the 1960's when they were produced to advertise a tire and muffler company. The "Muffler Man" would be holding a muffler and tire, when it was delivered. Other variations of the same mold were created; hence the cowboy in Longmont, who holds a pitchfork.

WHERE IS THE 'MUFFLER MAN' IN GREELEY?

WHERE IS THE 'MUFFLER MAN' IN LONGMONT?
The "Cowboy" is about four miles west of Hover on Highway 66 at 12765 North 63rd Street. The two Colorado "Muffler Men" are only about 40 miles apart. There is a replica "Muffler Man" at the Copperhead Bar in Colorado Springs, but it was commissioned by the bar in 2009.
