Colorado: Our Pup-Perfect State Doesn’t Rank No. 1?
Raise your hand if you spoil your dog. OK, now that we all have our hands raised, let's talk about it. Turns out, living in Colorado makes it that much easier to spoil our furry, ball-loving, tail-wagging, drooly mess, bark-boxed four-legged friends.
A new study has placed Colorado as "the second best state for dog owners." This ranking is due to several factors like ease of finding dog parks, dog-friendly trails, and health and pampering care for dogs.
One of the standout features of Colorado is its high dog-walking score, with 24 registered dog sitters per 100,000 residents, which is 251.3% higher than the state average. Additionally, Colorado received a high score for its nature, with plenty of parks and wildlife areas for dog owners to enjoy with their furry companions.
This study highlights the many benefits of being a dog owner in Colorado, from easy access to dog-walking services to many dog sitters, and plenty of nature to enjoy. This ranking no doubt aligns with the healthy humans that live here too. We all benefit from getting out into nature.
This photo is of my adventure-loving dog Bella hanging out at a campsite up the Poudre Canyon. Yes, she was cool with wearing those Doggles and always claimed that yellow chair as her own.

Vermont came in first place, mainly because they have a ton of veterinarians, making it really easy to find care. Wyoming was third place and actually had a higher score in nature points, which means more parks and wildlife areas that allow dogs.
