Living in Montrose there are many places within 100 miles or less, with so much beauty. If you have had a stressful week, the open road is soothing for the soul.

What is an interesting road to travel here on the Western Slope?

When I first moved here my husband and I went to Nucla then on to Uravan to Gateway then back to Montrose. The ride was gorgeous. You are on HWY141 from Uurvan to Gateway which drops you off onto US50, about 20 miles south of Grand Junction.

Do you like to stop a lot?

I admit I do, but my husband does not. There are many places to get out of the car, take a photo, and stretch your legs.

Out of all the places I've been in Colorado, Ouray, and Telluride are my favorites. I never take the mountain beauty for granted. The changing of the leaves during autumn is another great drive. I love Crested Butte to Somerset and on to Paiona. The hour's drive through there is spectacular. I recommend late September thru early October.
