See Awesome Art at Colorado Chalk Festival this Weekend
What has become a tradition in Colorado struggled a bit for the past couple of years due to numerous factors, but will be coming back this Labor Day weekend bigger, and better than ever. The event is the 20th annual Denver Chalk Art Festival.
When and Where is this Year's Denver Chalk Art Festival?
The 2022 Denver Chalk Art Festival will take place over the span of three days this Labor Day weekend, Saturday, September 3rd through Monday, September 5th from 10 a.m. through 8 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, and 10 a.m. through 6 p.m. on Monday.
While the festival took place for most of its existence in Larimer Square, this year will see the Denver Chalk Art Festival at its new location for the first time, which is in the city's Golden Triangle Creative District; a few city blocks between 11th and 13th Avenues and Acoma and Bannock Streets:
While this year promises to be the festival's biggest yet, the Denver Chalk Art Festival faced numerous struggles in recent years.
History of Denver Chalk Art Festival
The Denver Chalk Art Festival began back in 2003 and grew steadily as the years progressed. However, back in 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic threw a wrench into the operation, forcing that year's festival to be held virtually.
Luckily, this year's festival is looking great and plans to bring over 200 artists of varying ages and skill levels, most of whom are local, as well as hundreds of spectators to celebrate this unique form of art in one 8x8' sidewalk block at a time.
