When is the Best Season to Visit Colorado?
Having four seasons is so great. I grew up in San Diego California, it never felt like Winter, or even fall. In the last 10 years, I've lived in places that have four seasons, winter is one of my favorites. Maybe not 20 degrees, but those snow-capped mountains are stunning.
Colorado has the most awesome seasons. Winter can be snowy and cold. Living in Montrose I find the winter to be mild. It's not bitter cold. Temperatures vary from 40 for the high to 20 at night. There is plenty of snow on the mountains usually through July, which is cool for visitors that have never experienced snow-capped mountains.
From my perspective Spring is the shortest month, temperatures may be in the 50s and 60s. There may be snowy days, too. Before you know it summer is around the corner. It rarely gets above 90 in Monrose in the summer, which is a plus. Summer is also when we see an influx of tourists.
Fall has its pluses with the changing of the leaves, and you can drive just about anywhere on the Western slope to capture them. Average temperatures are in the mid-60s. So if you don't like cold, visit April through October. Really the only months that are dicey are December, January, and February, where the cold and snow can be unpredictable. I fell the most cooped up during those months.
If you are planning a trip to Colorado, all the seasons are spectacular. The beauty on the western slope is endless. Enjoy these photos of the beautiful seasons.
