THIS WEEKEND: Fort Collins to Spray and Prevent West Nile Virus
Mosquitoes carrying the West Nile virus are here in Northern Colorado, and the City of Fort Collins is taking steps to protect us from serious or even fatal illnesses.
The City of Fort Collins announced that they will be spraying for mosquitoes in northeast Fort Collins on Sunday, July 30th.
HOW THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS WILL ELIMINATE MOSQUITOS
The City of Fort Collins made this announcement.
The City’s contractor, Vector Disease Control International (VDCI), will use a permethrin-based product to be applied in a fine mist.
IT'S IMPORTANT FOR YOU TO STAY INSIDE DURING THE SPRAY
Vector Control International will start spraying in northeast Fort Collins around 8:00 PM to 2:00 AM. The city emphasized that residents need to keep doors and windows closed for an hour after the spray is complete.

- Douglas Road
- Giddings Road
- Mountain Vista Drive
- I-25
- Drake Road
The decision to spray for mosquitoes follows the recommendation by the Larimer County Department of Health and Environment, in accordance with the City's West Nile Virus Management Policy.

THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS RELEASED A MAP OF THE SPRAY AREAS
Additionally, you can follow the progress while the mosquito spray is happening. Spraying the northeast Fort Collins area will take six hours. You can track when your neighborhood will be sprayed by following this map on Sunday, July 30th.
