As a kid growing up in Colorado in the 1990s, I have fond memories of visiting various Toys ‘R’ Us stores across the state. My family and I had a blast just perusing the aisles at stores in Boulder, Denver, and Pueblo.

I remember checking out the action figures from Spider-Man: The Animated Series, rifling through the latest Super Nintendo games, and being in awe at the now-dated Virtual Boy gaming system.

Unfortunately for children everywhere, Toys ‘R’ Us declared bankruptcy in 2017 and closed every remaining brick-and-mortar location in Colorado, and the state remained without a Toys ‘R’ Us store until this past weekend, when the brand made a comeback with a new location.

Where is Colorado’s New Toys ‘R’ Us Store?

On Saturday, November 22, 2025, a new Toys ‘R’ Us store opened its doors at 13801 Grant Street in the Denver suburb of Thornton in the Denver Premium Outlets shopping center.

The company opened this store as part of a plan to double the number of brick-and-mortar locations it currently has operating in the United States by the end of 2025.

What’s Different About the New Colorado Toys ‘R’ Us Store?

Unfortunately for ‘90s kids, there won’t be any Virtual Boy gaming systems to try out at the new Toys ‘R’ Us store, but there will be a new arcade game station with claw machines and prizes, including two popular Japanese toys, Gashapon and Tomy Gacha.

The store also carries classic toy brands, including Lego, Barbie, Hot Wheels, and Nerf.
