What are E-Scooters?

E-scooters are motorized scooters classified as micro-mobility. A small electric hub motor powers the scooter. There are no pedals on an e-scooter. The rider stands on the e-scooter and operates a set of handlebar controls to speed up or slow down. These e-scooters can be rented via a mobile app. The shaded blue area on the map below represents the operational area for the two fleets of scooters available now in Grand Junction.

How Do I Rent an E-Scooter in Grand Junction?

Apps for Bird and Lime are available in Apple's App Store and Google Play. Take time to properly register, enter payment info, and read the safety and specific instructions prior to the day you want to rent the e-scooter. Installing and activating the apps in advance of your rental will make for a much more enjoyable ride day.

You can rent the e-scooter at Las Colonias and return it to a corral at Canyon View Park. This all happens on your phone using either Bird or Lime.

Obey E-Scooter Speed Limits

In the city of Grand Junction, e-scooter speed limits will be set to 6 mph on city sidewalks, and 15 mph on shared trails like the riverfront as Las Colonias. Bird and Lime e-scooters belong on the street and only in the bike lanes. If no bike lane is available get on the sidewalk. Trying to take an e-scooter onto I-70 or up the Grand Mesa will only result in loss of service when the scooter leaves the operational area. Such action could also include other penalties.
