Like Driving and Helping? Northern Colorado’s SAINT Program Needs You
Any volunteer organization in Colorado that has been around over 40 years is going to show signs of strain. One, based out of Loveland and Fort Collins has lasted for decades, but to keep the "wheels in motion," so to speak, it's going to take more than "wanting" to assist and more actual effort.
Nobody, at any age, likes the idea of needing to be somewhere important but not being able to get there on their own. Being older and needing a ride gets tough; who to call? How do you even get to the bus stop? Uber is too much to be feasible. When options are "slim to none," it's good to have an organization such as SAINT (Senior Alternative in Transportation) to lean on; but what would happen if SAINT wasn't there, to lean on?

These days, SAINT is not only for senior but for the disabled as well, so it means even more rides that people need, just about every day. In 2024, SAINT provided over 19,000 rides, for free, to get others in their community to where they needed to be (and back.) 19,000 rides is a lot; as the years continue, the need for more volunteer drivers will only grow. The push is on to get more people to donate their time and their desire to help others.
