Former Popular Movie Theater in Colorado Has a New Plan
Nearly 10 years after Lyric Cinema in Fort Collins moved to its new location, there are plans for the former location.
Plans for Former Lyric Cinema in Fort Collins, Colorado Announced
What's great about what will be happening to the former Lyric Cinema, is that the location will still be a part of entertaining the Northern Colorado community. While folks won't be seeing movies there, it'll still be a part of the arts.
Lyric Cinema Cafe, with two screens, existed at the corner of Mountain Avenue and Chesnutt Street in Downtown Fort Collins from 2007-2015.
In 2015, the Lyric Cinema announced it would be moving from Mountain Avenue in Downtown Fort Collins to North College. That old theater (which at one point was a laundromat) had a lot of character; it wasn't fancy, and it was small, but it was fun.

The new Lyric Cinema, which opened in 2027, with much more room, is doing great on North College. They have an outdoor screen, concerts, and open-mic nights. Though it's a new building, it still has that "old" quirkiness vibe of the Mountain Avenue spot.
Lyric Cinema's new location at 1209 North College (near College and Conifer,) has three screens inside, and one outside with great views of the mountains.
In September of 2024, the old building was demolished; I feel bad I wasn't there to see it happen, as I had a lot of fun at that old place, including seeing a movie about disc golf.
What's Next for the Old Lyric Cinema in Fort Collins?
They won't be showing movies when the new building is completed, but it will be a part of the Fort Collins arts/music scene in Northern Colorado.

Fort Collins billionaire Pat Stryker's Bohemian Live Music will be turning the space into a two-story building, where there'll be a green room for acts that play at The Armory music venue.

Here's a suggestion for that green room: A supply of cereals, as the old Lyric was famous for showing cartoons with cereals on Saturday mornings.
