
Major Peach Recall Issued in Colorado Over Listeria Concerns
There have been quite a few recalls of food lately. Most notably, the recent shrimp recalls were due to possible radioactive contamination. We're telling you about another recall that could affect you and your family in Colorado.
Peaches Recalled Nationwide Due to Listeria Risk
According to 9 News, a voluntary recall on peaches nationwide, including Colorado, has been issued by Moonlight Companies. These peaches could have been exposed to Listeria contamination at the packing facility.

This recall affects both yellow and white peaches that were grown in California and sold as the Moonlight and Kroger brands. The contaminated peaches were sold at retail stores nationwide between the dates of September 16 and October 29.

Packaging for the recalled peaches includes cardboard crates, plastic bags, and plastic clamshells. Listeria is a type of bacteria that can cause food poisoning known as listeriosis and can be found in raw or undercooked meats, soft cheeses, unpasteurized milk, raw vegetables and fruits, and sprouts.
Symptoms of Listeriosis to Watch For
Symptoms of listeriosis appear generally two to 30 days after contaminated food has been eaten and include the following:
- High fever
- Nausea
- Abdominal pain
- Diarrhea
- Meningitis
- Sepsis
- Confusion
- Seizures
People who are most at risk include pregnant women and newborns, people with weakened immune systems, older adults, infants, and young children.

Any purchases of the recalled peaches should not be eaten. Customers can throw the peaches away or return the peaches to the place of purchase for a full refund. For more information on this peach recall, visit fda.gov.
