
After Two-Year Closure, Moraine Park Campground Near Estes Park Is Back

2025 is shaping up to be a record-breaking year in Colorado. As of July 8, eight million people have already visited one of Colorado's 43 state parks.

Colorado’s Most Visited Parks in 2025
Many of those people have used our state parks' campgrounds. If you're a camper, you know that these spots are often reserved far in advance by people all around the country.
Although finding a camping spot can be tricky and requires a ton of patience, some spots are opening up soon.
According to 9News, Moraine Park Campground near Estes Park in Rocky Mountain National Park will reopen on July 9.
Why Moraine Park Closed for Two Years
The campground has been closed for the past two years because of the East Utility Rehabilitation Program. The program aimed to improve the water and electrical distribution services for Moraine Park Campground and a few others.
What’s New at Moraine Park Campground
According to the National Parks Service, a new water treatment plant was put in place, and larger water storage tanks were installed. The old water system needed an upgrade, and the East Utility Rehab Project made improvements thanks to funding from the Great American Outdoors Act.

Moraine Park Campground is accepting reservations right now. Reservations are available now at recreation.gov. At the time of writing, it looks like there are a ton of spots open. Just know that these reservations fill up quickly.
