Since we're in the middle of a drought, our trees are now "under more stress." The way that they respond to these dry conditions is by shutting down their chlorophyll production sooner.

When the production of chlorophyll stops then the leaves begin to change colors. This means the colors will change earlier this year.

Luckily, we got a bit of a reprieve from the hot and dry weather during the week of August 25th. In a recent report, the Farmers Almanac predicted that much of Colorado will see a wet start to the fall with late November bringing with it some snow.
