When you return from vacation to Denver International Airport, you can get home in many ways. You can park directly at the airport, take a shuttle from a nearby parking lot, Uber, or have a friend pick you up.

However, one Colorado resident was overcharged for a wild amount.

Colorado Woman Charged $2,310 for One Day of DIA Parking

According to 9News, a woman named Cheryl McConnell was charged $2,310 for a day of parking at Denver International Airport. McConnell parked at the airport for just a day, then was charged for over two months of parking.

Long Refund Battle with Customer Service

McConnell spoke to 9News and said that she had difficulty reaching customer service, and the refund process took two weeks.

Denver International Airport says the incident was rare.

A Costly Reminder to Double-Check Travel Receipts

We could imagine that this was incredibly frustrating. $2,310 is certainly not a small overcharge. This is a great reminder for all of us to check out receipts after we travel.

My Own Parking Experience at DIA vs. Shuttle Services

Based on my personal experience, I have been overcharged or double-charged for travel expenses. It happens a lot more often than you would think.
