BBQs are usually pretty basic. Hot dogs, hamburgers, potato salad, and beer. The basics. But if you're hosting a party this 4th of July, you might want to add a little bit of flair to the setup.

Here are some last-minute food options to take your party to the next level.

Main Dish

As stated above, hot dogs and hamburgers are the most basic of all BBQ foods, but what if I told you you could do something just as cool and just as easy? Sausage. That's right, sausage.

Go to the store and getcha some sausage links ala Johnsonville or Jimmy Dean. Anytime we host a party, we just cut up some sausage and put it in the crockpot with BBQ sauce and a jar of grape jelly. Easy to make and always a hit, don't forget about sausage for the 4th.

Side

Have you ever tried broccoli salad? I know healthy options aren't really what people are searching for at a BBQ, but hear me out. Broccoli, yogurt, apples, and cranberries mixed together create a refreshing side dish option your guests will love.

Also, you can tell people you ate broccoli for lunch. Just leave out the part about the 12 beers and 6 hot dogs you also ingested. No one has to know.

Dessert

I can be creative sometimes. Seriously. I found something on Pinterest last year that I made at our last BBQ, and people loved it. All you have to do is buy some cheap skewers at the dollar store, small marshmallows, strawberries, and blueberries, and stack all of it together for an American fruit skewer.

So be a little creative this 4th of July and watch your guests enjoy the fruits of your labor. Get it?
