Editor’s note: This story was originally published in October 2022. We’re bringing it back for spooky season. Been somewhere haunted that didn’t make the list? Let us know.

Halloween is right around the corner, and for some people, that means a visit to a haunted house. Haunted houses can be a lot of fun, especially when they're just old stores in a strip mall converted into a maze with dark corners, people in creepy costumes jumping out at you, etc.

However, some people like to visit actual haunted places during 'spooky season,' which is a totally different thing.

There are plenty of places in Colorado that people claim are haunted. For example, the Stanley Hotel in Estes Park is notoriously haunted. Stephen King’s stay there inspired ‘The Shining,’ and the 1997 TV miniseries was filmed on-site.

In addition, Hotel Colorado in Glenwood Springs is allegedly full of paranormal activity, and both of these places are hot spots for ghost hunters and those looking for a scare.

Curious, I posted a question on Facebook asking what the most haunted places you've been to are and got all kinds of responses.

Grand Junction Residents Share the Most Haunted Places They've Been

The aforementioned Hotel Colorado and Stanley Hotel were both mentioned as a couple of the most haunted places you've been to, but there are plenty more right here in Colorado that came up.

For example, some claim that the Grand Junction Regional Center is haunted, as well as the Mesa County Courthouse, the former Pinball Jones building in Fort Collins, and Pinion Hall in Fort Collins, to name a few.

Take a look at some of the most haunted places Grand Junction residents have been in Colorado, and beyond:
