Colorado’s Carbs: What Type of Bread Do Locals Love the Most?
Rye, wheat, tortillas, muffins, bagels biscuits, buns, and more – the list of different and delicious types of bread goes on and on. But does Colorado have a favorite when it comes to this specific category of carbs?
Researchers at Shane Co. kneaded to get to the bottom of this dough-based dilemma.
To determine the most popular bread in every state across the country, analysts reviewed Google Trends search data from August 2021 to August 2022 for 45 popular bread types. The search results revealed some interesting regional trends and also showed the type of bread people in the nation enjoy the most overall.
According to the study, sprouted breads are considered to be the most favored choice in the country, with four states frequently searching for this health-conscious option. Sprouted breads are often eaten by those with mild gluten sensitivities or special dietary restrictions. Connecticut, Florida, Hawaii, and Illinois all appear to love sprouted breads over any other kind.
Ciabatta and baguettes also ranked as the other top choices on the state-by-state breakdown of the most popular bread.
Coloradans appear to prefer their bread on the sweeter side. The most commonly searched-for kind in the Centennial State is banana bread. Vermont is the only other state that had banana bread as its top pick.
Vermont is also ranked as the most carb-obsessed state in the U.S., but it's pretty apparent that everyone around the country loves their carbs.
