You'd be surprised where you'll find millionaires these days. They're popping up in smaller towns across the United States. Not long ago, four Colorado towns made the list of the top 25 towns with big millionaire populations.
Check out the gallery below and you'll see four Colorado towns rich with millionaires. Surprisingly, these might not be the towns you would have thought of. Here are a couple of hints: Towns not on the top 25 list include Aspen and Vail.
List of 25 Small Towns In America With Big Millionaire Populations
The report from Kiplinger features small towns "...teaming with well-to-dos." These small towns are home to large concentrations of high-net-worth households.
According to a report from Zippia published just five days ago (February 24, 2023), 8.8% of U.S. adults are millionaires. There are roughly 22,000,000 millionaires in the United States. Of those, 33% are women.
One On The List You Probably Didn't Expect
The list from Kiplinger includes 25 towns all across the United States. An example of a town you probably wouldn't expect would be Elko, Nevada. If you've been to Elko before, you already know there isn't much there.
Looking back a few years, the only major action in Elko would be the old Red Lion hotel and casino. This particular venue gets serious foot traffic by hosting senior citizen junket flights.
When it comes to Elko, Nevada, the breakdown is as follows (as of September 2020):
- Total households - 1,589
- Millionaire households - 1,589
- The concentration of millionaires - 7.9%
- The median income for all households - $77,222
What About Colorado?
Colorado has it going on when it comes to small towns with millionaires. Check out the list from Kiplinger and you'll not find any other state with as many as four towns on the list.
While two of the Colorado towns are a bit obvious, the other two are a bit surprising. Who would have guessed there was so much money residing in Western Colorado?
