Apparently, there are a few states that can outdrink Colorado but is this truly a bragging right the Centennial state wants to have?

It Looks Like Everyone is Doing It

Coloradans love their craft beer and especially their wine. When you were younger you probably heard the saying about how "just because everyone else is doing it, doesn't mean that you should."

However, looking at Colorado's data it really does appear that most adults in the state are consuming alcohol and a lot of it at that.

Over 61% of Coloradans admitted to drinking alcohol within the last 30 days, while only approximately 38% have not.

States That Drink More than Colorado

Colorado ranked 4th in the nation for states that consume the most alcohol with a score of 61.1.

Here is how the top 5 states that drink the most played out:

  1. District of Columbia - 66.7
  2. Wisconsin - 64.1
  3. Vermont - 61.2
  4. Colorado - 61.1
  5. New Hampshire - 59.8

The CDC also ranked states based on heavy drinking which is considered to be more than 14 drinks a week for men and more than 7 drinks a week for women.

D.C. once again took the top spot when it came to heavy drinking, while Colorado slid down to the 9th spot.

Colorado Is Still A Really Healthy State

Despite the fact that Colorado is a top state for alcohol consumption, Coloradans are overall still healthier than others in the U.S.

Using the same source, Colorado was listed as having one of the lowest rates of heart disease with D.C. narrowly beating us. Coloradans also have the lowest rate of diabetes among adults in the country listed at 7% in 2021.

So while the Centennial state has its vices, our overall health is still supreme compared to others.
